Winter Round Up 2020/21
No matter how you look at it, the winter 2020/21 season certainly goes down as one to remember!
On one hand, the lack of international travel made this season feel more like the Niseko of old, with very few tourists and therefore little crowds. And on the other, it was one of seemingly endless powder snow, the best season we’ve had from a snowfall perspective in recent memory. Despite the challenges faced this year, the ski resorts and local businesses persevered to deliver a safe and fun winter season for those who were lucky enough to visit the powder capital of the world.
Deep Powder
Those who managed to travel to Niseko this season were treated to some of the most epic snow conditions with the Niseko United resort reporting the season’s total snowfall at well over 15m! There was consistent powder throughout the peak months with fresh tracks regularly on offer even late in the day. Short lift lines and endless refills reminded us all why Niseko is such a special place in winter and why we simply cannot wait to welcome snow-lovers from all corners of the globe!
Furano
Known as Japan’s lavender town, Furano is already a fully established summer destination for domestic tourists. The central Hokkaido town continues to grow as an international skiing destination with the opening of a number of new developments near the Kitanomine Zone of the Furano Ski Resort. Fenix Furano, Kaku Place and ArtHouse, all completed in 2020, offer great, new Western-style accommodation options with convenient access to the slopes. New retail and dining options, like Rhythm Japan’s Furano location and Fenix Restaurant and Bar, add to the already impressive selection of venues in the town. Combined with the incredible terrain and short lift lines, Furano is hot on the heels of Niseko as THE place to be next winter.
All Niseko Pass
This winter, we expanded our All Niseko Pass program, bringing on a range of new partners whom we hand-selected as the best operators in town! Our valued guests can now use their All Niseko Pass vouchers to enjoy even more great services such as ski lessons, guiding, restaurants, bars, shopping and yoga. With the list of partners growing all the time, the program is simply the best way to save on your Niseko holiday. To find out more, head to the H2 Life website here. And keep an eye out for the All Furano Pass coming soon too!
When international travel resumes in the near future, signs suggest that it will return with a bang! New accommodations, venues and infrastructure across both Niseko and Furano will mean an even better holiday experience for those traveling to the north island of Japan.
